Book on the Metis Lighthouse

Written by historian and director of Les Jardins de Métis Alexander Reford with the assistance of Paul Gendron, grandson of lighthouse keeper Octave Gendron, The Metis Lighthouse details the story of the lighthouse and profiles the lighthouse keepers who manned it for more than a century. The book of 48 pages is illustrated with more than 40 photographs, drawings and paintings.

The Metis Lighthouse is published by Heritage Lower St. Lawrence in collaboration with Montreal publisher Price-Patterson. It is the first in a series of publications by Heritage Lower St. Lawrence dedicated to exploring the history of the region and the contribution of the English-speaking residents to communities in the Lower St. Lawrence. Other titles will include: Metis Un brin d’Écosse en Gaspésie by Alice Sharples Baldwin (translated by Jacques Bastien), Metis Memories by Robert W. Reford and Merretts in Metis by Brian Merrett.

The Metis Lighthouse is also published in French under the title Le Phare de Métis.
